Why Strength Training?

Improve muscle mechanics and movement patterns for life and for sport. The world we live in and sports we play create compensations in our bodies, leading to imbalances and weaknesses in specific muscle groups. Utilizing strength training can significantly help shift some of these patterns.

Recover from injuries and work towards prevention of future problems or pain. Weaknesses from our compensatory patterns can very easily lead to injuries. Resistance training promotes growth and/or increases the strength of ligaments, tendons, and tendon to bone junction strength. Research shows time and time again that weight lifting increases bone density, joint cartilage, and connective tissue.

Better metabolic health for body composition and longevity. It requires a good amount of energy for the body to both build and keep muscle on the body. This means the body will be burning more calories throughout the day in order to keep that muscle. Having higher muscle mass also leads to better energy levels, better use of glycogen (sugar), and less blood sugar spikes.

Enhance skill for sport. One of the biggest benefits of the weight room for all athletes is the fact that technical movements from sport can be broken down into smaller, more controlled and methodical exercises.
